Wired Catholic Outage

For those of you who tried to access the site over the past 36 hours, my deepest apologies! My hosting service shut the site down because of a third-party script I was running occasonally in the background that apparently was sucking up too many resources. The script was a legitimate, fairly mature plugin for wordpress but for some reason was not working correctly or was encountering conflicts. Unfortunately, the host did not give me any warning or opportunity to fix prior to the site going down so I have spent the last 24 hours trying to figure out what the problem was and persuading the host to give me access back. Also, I did not appreciate the form notice they put up on the site listing a number of reasons why the site may have been shut down, most of which implied  I either didn’t pay my bills or I was a hacker running malicious code, neither of which was accurate. Needless to say the experience has probably permanently removed any thoughts on my part of recommending them to others, although prior to this experience I was impressed with their technical support. I managed to redirect the domain to a friendly maintenance page which was in place for the last few hours of the outage, but even that took much longer than it should have because of the difficulties my register was giving me. In any case, we are backup and running once again!
